This recipe is the one I always use to make a basic houmous. It's light and creamy and can be easily changed by adding some roasted veg or extra spice. If you blend it well you'll have a smooth consistency but sometimes its nice to have a bit of texture so try not to over mix.
1 tin chickpeas - drained and rinsed
1 tbsp tahini
2 tsp cumin
1/2 lemon - juice
50ml olive oil
1 - 2 garlic cloves, crushed
Splash of water - optional
Cumin seeds - optional
Place all the ingredients into a food processor. Mix until you have your desired consistency. If you want the houmous to be thinner and smoother, add a splash of water and mix again. Repeat this step until your happy with the texture.
Top with a few cumin seeds to finish.
